One side will argue in favor of their return to Greece. The other will present the reasons why they should remain at the British Museum. However, as much as this may sound like yet another debate about the Parthenon Marbles, the discussion that will take place on September 29 at the Old Parliament is something more.

To begin with, it does not include any politicians.

“We thought that if we invited politicians, the discussion might derail from our main objective, which is answering the question ‘to whom does art belong?’,” says 27-year-old Filippos Petropoulos, founder and president of Debate House, the non-profit organization promoting healthy public dialogue that is organizing the debate, speaking to Kathimerini. “We also realized early on,” he adds, “that in both Britain and Greece there is an informal ‘line’ not to involve institutional figures, such as politicians or museum directors, in such events.”
