What was it that made you want to take part?

The truth is that it was love at first sight. Watching a debate that the team had organized about the U.S. elections on YouTube, I decided that I had to become part of the organizing team myself. In that debate, I saw my own need— for the development of our society’s political education— embodied in this effort. I knew that, with the experience I have gained through years of volunteering in various groups and organizations, combined with Philip’s dynamism, we could make great strides toward the vision of Debate House.

As an Event Manager, what is the biggest challenge you have faced when organizing a debate?

The biggest challenge of any event is not a specific incident; it is that one hour before it begins. This is the moment when our ambition for a strong outcome, reinforced by the preparation that has preceded it, meets the audience’s expectations. During that one hour, our team acts as the conductor, coordinating the audience, speakers, partners, and media, and setting the rhythm with which the core part of the event will begin— taking its first step in the right way.
