The issue of the return of the Parthenon Marbles is once again coming dynamically to the forefront, with Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis commenting publicly in the context of Debate House. In his statements, Mr. Georgiadis acknowledged the progress that has been made in recent years, expressing cautious optimism about the final outcome of the negotiations.

“Agreements are always judged in the details,” he noted characteristically, emphasizing that “we are closer than we have ever been before” to a potential agreement on the return of the marbles. However, he was quick to add that until there is an official and signed agreement, “there is no agreement.”

This position highlights the climate of cautious approach prevailing on the Greek side, which continues its efforts toward a permanent solution with the British Museum. For decades, Greece has consistently raised the request for the return of the Marbles to their birthplace, stressing that they constitute an integral part of the Acropolis monument and of the world’s cultural heritage.
